2025 marked the first in-person conference of the Haunted Shores network, in collaboration with Danse Macabre. During the conference, we were happy to host a range of artistic and creative events and workshops, alongside academic papers. As such, we were thrilled to be joined by professional storyteller Inés Álvarez Villa, for a wonderfully thrilling storytelling event in the Banshee Labyrinth, Edinburgh’s most haunted pub. The performance was available to conference delegates. Inés’s performance was enchanting, as she took her fascinated audience through an immersive tale of a haunted Spanish galleon, as well as through the tale of a sinister violin, two stories perfect for the Haunted Shores/Danse Macabre focus on uncanny acoustics and hauntings. It was a brilliant evening and an invaluable addition to the conference, adding an immersive element to the event.
